Three Nelson Mandela

The idea for this piece first started several years ago with the play on words of three/free Nelson Mandela, but just having three separate images of Nelson Mandela didn’t excite me enough to continue with the concept.

After completing several pieces with dice showing 2 images in 1, I conceived a way that allowed the viewer to see three separate images from a dice. The result is this unique piece showing 3 images of Nelson.

It was whilst looking at photos of Nelson for inspiration, that it really hit home how long he had been in prison. I only saw photos of a young and an old Nelson Mandela but none of a middle-aged Mandela.
